DESCRIPTION:Hello Dragon Boat Enthusiasts! \nIt’s official – the 2026 Water Wars event is confirmed! \nDate: March 21\, 2026\nTime: 12pm – 4pm\nLocation: Vivo for Healthier Generations (11950 Country Village Link NE\, Calgary\, AB T3K 6E3\nRegistration Deadline: February 28\, 2026\nTheme: Beach Party!  Wear your brightest beach attire.\nCost: $50 per team \n\nThis year we will have the following categories: \n\nMixed – 2 men and 2 women\nWomen – 4 women paddlers\nOpen – at least 1 woman paddler\n\nThere won’t be a Men’s category as it was difficult to find enough interest last year. That could change if we have sufficient demand.  \n  \nEach team consists of four paddlers\, and we will allow one spare. That means ONE!! Only ONE\, and not more than…you guessed it – ONE!   \nTo register your team\, please use the following: https://calgarydragonboatsociety.com/dragon-boat-water-wars-2026/ \nWhen using the above link\, there is a Pay and Register button which will take the user to the payment page. After the user checks out\, they will receive a confirmation of the order. Once payment has been deposited\, the user’s status will change from HOLD to COMPLETED and the user will receive confirmed order details and a link to officially register. \nIt is also important that each participant\, including spares\, complete our waiver. Once the waiver is received\, our system issues a race bracelet for the paddler\, which also provides access to the facility. There is a large mezzanine on the second floor which is free of charge and open to the public. \nWe will also have food trucks at the site. DESCRIPTION:Safe Steering Accreditation\nThe Dragon Boat Canada (DBC) Safe Steering Accreditation program is designed to enhance\nthe knowledge and skills of steers people through both in-class theory and on-water practice.\nThis program helps participants improve their steering abilities and earn certification from\nDBC\, and is administered by the DBC Accreditation\, Education and Training Committee.\nWhile Safe Steering Accreditation is not required for all steerspersons\, it is necessary as a\nprerequisite for DBC Level 1 Coaching Certification or Independent Coaches & Steerspersons\nInsurance. All Canadian steers must be accredited to steer at CanAms or CDBC National\nevents. Becoming an Accredited DBC Steersperson also enhances your knowledge and skills\nand may open future opportunities for coaching or advancing your goals with DBC.\nAccreditation Requirements\nTo gain full Safe Steering Accreditation\, participants must:\n Attend the in-class theory session.\n Successfully complete the on-water exam.\n Complete the Safe Sport course (https://safesport.coach.ca/participants-training)\n Hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operators License (PCOC)\n Complete a First Aid course including CPR and AED certification.\nThe Safe Sport course\, Pleasure Craft Operators License and First Aid courses do not have to\nbe completed prior to taking this course.
