Senator Fairbairn School Event

Senator Fairbairn School is bringing approximately 180 students for a mini-taste of dragon boating.
DASA Volunteers are needed for several roles, including:
- Getting the boat on-land and setting it up with head, tail, and all equipment for the ‘paddlers’
- Assisting with the hand-games with the Chinese Community Association
- Coaching the ‘boat-crew’
- Assisting with equipment for the ‘boat-crew’
- General assistance as needed, and putting all equipment away after event is finished
There are several time slots to be filled, and volunteers will earn credits towards future paddling/pool fees. Click here to sign up!
This is a dryland experience (not on the water) for the students who will be in groups of approximately 25-30. The students will rotate and spend approximately 30 minutes learning about dragon boating around a dragon boat on the grass. This includes a ‘learning to paddle’ session with pfds and paddles, much like we do with brand new paddlers before going on the water.
In addition to our activities, Nikko Yuko Japanese Gardens and the Chinese Community Association will also be assisting with their stations to help manage the groups and provide a fun opportunity for all.
